Project collaboration
A project is rarely the work of one person. A colleague checks the BOM, a subcontractor designed the board, a purchaser wants to follow the order. That is why every project has a Collaborators setting: the people who can see the project and get its messages. You set it per project, so for every design you decide who is in.
Inviting someone
Open the project, go to Settings and look for Collaborators. It lists the owner and everyone you share the project with. Type an e-mail address under Add by email and confirm. The person does not need an account yet. Someone who already has one gets access right away and an e-mail with a link to the project. Someone without an account shows up as Pending invite and gets an e-mail with a sign-up link. As soon as they register with that address, they are in.
You can invite anyone: a colleague, a freelance designer, a subcontractor at another company. We do not look at the e-mail domain.
At any time
Collaborators are not fixed when you submit the project. You can add and remove them before you order, while we build, and after delivery. Sharing a running project with a new colleague takes one e-mail address.
What a collaborator can do
A collaborator works on the project the way you do. They see it in their own project list. They can read the request and the PCB specification, work in the BOM, look at the List of Change and the ProtoFotos, and download the project's files. They can chat with our engineers, and we can address them in the chat like any customer on the project. They can also change the delivery and invoice details and place the order.
They do not see your other projects, and what is reserved for DeltaProto staff stays out of reach. Only the owner can change the project name and your own reference.
A collaborator has full access to the project, including its files. Only invite people you would trust with the whole board.
Notifications
Each collaborator has two switches, which they can also set themselves: an e-mail when the project status changes, and an e-mail when there are new chat messages. When our engineers send a message to all customers on the project, everyone with message notifications on gets it. The owner always gets both.
Removing someone
The remove icon next to a person ends their access at once, after you confirm. Nothing they contributed is deleted, only their access ends. You can invite the same person again later.
