Project collaboration

A project is rarely one person's work. A colleague checks the BOM, a subcontractor designed the board, a purchaser wants to follow the order. Every project therefore has a Collaborators setting: the people who can see the project and receive its messages. It is set per project, so you decide for each design who is involved.

Inviting someone

Open the project, go to Settings and find the Collaborators section. It lists the owner and everyone the project is shared with. Type an e-mail address under Add by email and confirm. The person does not need an account yet:

  • Has an account already? They get access straight away and receive an e-mail with a link to the project.
  • No account yet? The list shows Pending invite and they receive an e-mail with a sign-up link. The moment they register with that address, access is granted automatically.

Anyone can be invited: a colleague, a freelance designer, a subcontractor at another company. There is no restriction on the e-mail domain.

At any time

Collaborators are not fixed when you submit the project. You can add and remove them before you order, while we build, and after delivery. Sharing a running project with a new colleague is a matter of one e-mail address.

What a collaborator can do

A collaborator works on the project the way you do. They see it in their own project list and can:

  • read the request and the PCB specification, work in the BOM, and view the List of Change and the ProtoFotos;
  • download the project's files;
  • chat with our engineers, and be addressed in the chat like any customer on the project;
  • change the delivery and invoice details, and place the order.

They cannot see your other projects, and everything reserved for DeltaProto staff stays out of reach. The project name and your own reference can only be changed by the owner.

A collaborator has full access to the project, including its files. Invite only people you would trust with the whole board.

Notifications

Each collaborator has two switches, which they can also set themselves: an e-mail when the project status changes, and an e-mail when new chat messages arrive. When our engineers address a message to all customers on the project, everyone with message notifications on receives it. The owner always receives both.

Removing someone

The remove icon next to a person ends their access immediately, after a confirmation. Nothing they contributed is deleted; only their access ends. You can invite the same person again later.
