Quooker: the first PCB arrived within a week
Who. Quooker makes the boiling-water tap of the same name, in Ridderkerk in the Netherlands, and develops the electronics in its taps in-house. Arjan van der Kamp is a senior embedded engineer there.
What we built. A prototype PCBA for Quooker's embedded team. For the first board Harm agreed a lead time of 20 days; we handled it as a 10-day order and it was finished within a week, two days of postal delay not counted. When the next board came up, Arjan asked for that same speed again, ten working days, and put in writing why he was ordering from us again.
“Hello Eddy, I was actually very impressed with the speed of the first PCB and I hoped we could maintain that speed again. So again 10 working days, and the sooner the better. Last time Harm allowed me to schedule it for 20 days, but it was handled as 10 days, and it ended up being 1 week (if we disregard the 2 days of postal delay). Well, speed (and engineering) is your strong point as I see it now. That's why I've scheduled it with you again.

What this means for you. The lead time of a first sample starts at 5 working days from the order, PCB and components included, and a change after that sample goes on the List of Change instead of into a new order. Read how that works on the prototype PCB assembly page, or upload your Gerber, BOM and centroid for a price.
